Press the F1 key at any point in the program. The help topic that appears, directly relates to the actual window that is displayed on-screen. For example, click Suppliers and then click Record. Pressing F1 at this point displays the help information relating to the Supplier Record.
Use the Contents tab on the left side of the help system to locate a
topic using the contents structure. The Contents is laid out module-by-module,
in the same way as they appear in your Sage Line 50 program.
The Contents is represented by a series of books and pages. A book indicates
that there is more information contained within that part of the Contents.
Select the book to expand the contents further. A page represents the
actual information. Click the page to display the topic information in
the right side of the help system.
If you have used the Index or Search facility to find a topic, and the
topic is listed in the Contents, select the Contents tab and you can see
where the topic can be found in the Contents structure.
The Index facility is one of the most powerful facilities available
in the help system. If you cannot find the topic you are looking for in
the Contents structure, or you do not know where the topic is, select
the Index tab.
Type in the word (or words) that you want to search for. The list of words
updates to find the closest match to the word you have entered. Select
the word from the list and then click .
Alternatively, you can scroll through the list of words until you find
the one that relates to the topic you require and then double-click on
that word.
If a number of topics apply to that word a pop-up list of topic titles
appears. Select the topic title you require and click Display. The topic
appears in the right-hand panel of the help system. If only one topic
applies to the word you are searching for, the topic appears in the right
panel of the help system automatically.
The Search facility is an extended version of the Index facility. Instead
of searching for ækeywordsÆ that relate to a topic, this facility searches
for any word in the entire help system. This means that you can search
not only for a word, but also for a specific letter or number.
After selecting the Search tab, type the word(s)
you want to find, and then click List Topics. If the word exists, a list
of topics where the word can be found appears. Double-click a topic in
the list to display that topic.
Use the Hide button to hide the Contents, Index and Search
tab. When you click Hide, the Contents pane disappears and the Hide button
becomes a Show button.
Click Show to display the Contents, Index and Search tabs
again.
You can return to the previous help topic
that was displayed by clicking the Back button. If you have used the Back
button, you can then use the Forward button to move back the original
topic you were viewing.
The Print options vary depending on the tab that is displayed.
Selecting the Print button from the Index or Search tab allows you to print
the topic that is on view in the right hand panel of the help system.
Everything that is displayed in that topic at that time is printed.
Note: If any additional information is displayed when you choose
to print a topic, this information is printed as well. To display this
additional information so that it can be printed, click on a word and
an explanation of that box, check box or list appears.
Selecting the Print button from the Contents tab allows you to print either
the selected topic or the selected heading and all subtopics. By choosing
to print the selected heading and all subtopics, you will print all of
the topics listed under that book in the Contents structure. For example,
if you select the topic To Reconcile your Bank Statement, so that it appears
in the right-hand window, and then select the 'Print the selected heading
and all subtopics' option, all of the Bank Reconciliation topics are printed.
Once you have selected the Print option the Print window appears. From
here you can select the number of copies you want to print, as well as
the paper size and type by clicking Properties.
Some topics have additional information listed between the main text
and the Related Topics area. This additional information is a list of
all of the boxes and drop-down lists that you have to fill in to complete
a procedure. Click on a word to open the additional information about
that box, check box or drop-down list. Click on the word again to close
the information.
Note: If this additional information is displayed when you choose
to print a topic, this information is printed as well.
At the end of every topic there is a Related Information section. To display one of the related topics, click the appropriate link. For example, a topic about supplier records will have related topics explaining how to set up supplier records, as well as information about supplier defaults and how to enter them.
